My best sewing experience of 2011

The year 2011 has been one of numerous sewing projects and experiences. I did all kinds of sewing: alterations, costumes, bridal, custom dressmaking tailoring and window treatments. I took a couple of Apparel and Design courses at Trenholm State Technical College and a course in Draping and Pattern Making at Columbus College of Art and Design.
. However, the most exciting sewing related experience was my visit to Goodeville Fabric Outlet in the Amish country of Pennsylvania. It was overwhelming and exhilarating when I walked into the warehouse type store and saw bolts and bolts of fabric. It was my exciting High I ever got from fabric.

In addition to the sewing, I thoroughly enjoyed teaching the kids and teens classes. All of the students love to sew. I hope they will carry what they learned to their adult lives.
It was a great year for sewing!

Christmas in November Wedding

I made six (6) bridesmaids outfits and three (3) junior bridesmaids dresses. Sewing the velvet bustier/top was quite challenging. Velvet crawls from under the feed dogs. They came out great. Everyone said they are beautiful.

No sewing

For the past couple of days; I've tried to continue sewing one of the dresses; however I could do no sewing because I'm having allergy issues. It has been really warm here in Alabama. When it gets warm my allergies act up. I get itchy, watery eyes and the sneezing keeps me from doing what I plan. Hopefully, tomorrow will be a better day and I will have some pictures to post.

Wedding Attire

I have just started sewing for a wedding that will be in November. I am making 6 bridesmaids dresses (Burda pattern with two pieces) and three Junior bridesmaids (Vogue Girl a-line) with jacket.
One challenge I have already is getting the ladies to come for the first fitting. I'm hoping that all will make themselves available for the fittings. It is essential to have fittings because of change in weight over a long time. The measurements were taken in January; so they will require at least two fittings before the wedding in November.
