Reflections on the wedding
It's been a couple of weeks since the wedding. It was very nice. We received several complements about it. The newly weds were amazed to see the reception hall and all the decorations. When I return to Alabama, I have two outfits to sew.

Wedding Over
It's been a week since the wedding. I'm still trying to get some rest from all the work that went into the wedding. The newly weds are happy and pleased with how the wedding turned. A BIG shout out to my sister, Lilette Diamond for hard work and planning. She put the wedding together in five months. In addition to cooking some of the food. See the pics on FB.

Too busy to blog last night- T-minus 7days to wedding
Yesterday, we worked on the wedding ceremony and reception programs until 2 am.It's a large wedding party and we had to get the correct spelling of the names. Several phone calls had to be made to verify the correct spelling. Some African names are familiar and others are not. We completed the programs and emailed them to the ones getting married for approval. I'm so happy that's all done with.

T-minus 9 days and counting
There was a second wedding rehearsal today. Apparently, the groom wants to make sure that everyone in the bridal party understands what they have to do. Next Friday evening will be the last rehearsal before the BIG day on Saturday. Stay tuned for more tomorrow.

The wedding countdown continues
This was a real tiring day for me. I did some sewing this morning; then made a trip to Joann Fabric to buy buttons and a zipper for the African dress I'm making for my sister. When I returned to the house I did more sewing. Later it was out again. Did not return until after 9pm. It was tiring, but very productive. The wedding planning and sewing continues tomorrow.

Summer Sewing Camps
This summer I won't be running sewing camps because I'm assisting with the planning of a wedding. Many people have inquired about the camps for their children. I will however start up Saturday classes in August.I hope you will be available to take classes at that time. My schedule will be published at the end of July. I look forward to hearing from many of you.
American wedding for African couple
For the past several months I've been planning a wedding with my sister for an African couple. It will be on July 7th. They want to have an American wedding with all the trimmings. There are 300 people on the guest list. My sister is the Coordinator/Planner.
I have altered the bridesmaids dresses and the groom's men tuxedos. Today we made the centerpieces and other floral arrangements. As the day gets closer; there is still so much more to do. I will blog each day until the wedding.

Draping with Knit Fabric
This is a work in progress of a dress I draped with knit fabric in the class I took this pass summer at Columbus College of Art and Design. When you drape knit fabric on a dress form; you have to stretch it really tight on the form to get the correct shape to convert to a pattern.
It is simply amazing to start with a piece of fabric and end up with a wearable garment. I absolutely love to drape fabric. It helps me be creative. This should look really good with a silver belt and some big sterling silver earrings.

Beginner Sewing - 2nd Session
The girls started making a pillow today. This project will help them sew straight seams. I think each one of them did a good job controlling the sewing machine and making the seams straight.
I will post pictures when the pillow are completede

More Alterations
I did a lot of ripping out today. I ripped out some old zippers. There are three pairs of jeans that needs new zippers. The original zippers are broken. Each one has a different size zipper. I really don't like to do zippers but I agreed to do these for one of my neighbor's relative. I hope to replace them tomorrow.

First sewing of the New Year
My first sewing project of the New Year turned out to be a previous Alteration project from last year. I had shortened the sleeves on a suit jacket; however, I neglected to replace the buttons on the end of the sleeves and reattach the lining. So, today I finished the it all and now the suit is ready to be worn. In addition to the jacket, there are several pants that needs replacement zippers. I guess I had better get to them soon.
